Who is Ready for Mutton Bustin’?!

Event Overview:

In rodeo, Mutton Bustin’ is an event that is always exciting! It occurs during the Rodeo performances on Friday and Saturday nights, where children emulate cowboys and cowgirls by attempting to maintain their grip on a sheep as it runs across the arena. Each participant will receive a goodie bag from the Blue Rose PRCA Charity Rodeo Committee!

Eligibility Requirements:

Participation is restricted to children aged 5-7 who weigh under 70 pounds at the time of competition.
Participants must wear mandatory helmets and protective vests provided by Blue Rose PRCA Charity Rodeo.
Participants must wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and sturdy, closed-toe shoes for safety reasons. No Spurs are allowed! One parent will be allowed in the arena and must also wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
Parent/Guardian must sign waiver releasing the Blue Rose PRCA Charity Rodeo and Barnes Rodeo.

Application Process:

Parents interested in registering their children for Mutton Bustin’ can do so via our registration form below. Due to limited spaces, registration operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Completing the form does not ensure participation; selected applicants will be contacted directly. An advanced $15 registration fee will be required upon notification of selection. A parent and rider must buy a ticket to the rodeo for the child to participate.

Advanced registration closes April 17, 2026. Parents can check the day of the rodeo for any open spots for their child to participate. Day of rodeo registration fee will increase to $20.

Check-In Procedures:

Participants must check in before each rodeo performance. Specific timing for check-in will be communicated upon selection. Punctuality is crucial; late arrivals will forfeit their spot, as we will proceed with the next participant without delay.

I acknowledge that should my child be selected to participate; I am required to sign a waiver releasing Blue Rose PRCA Charity Rodeo and Barnes PRCA Rodeo from liability. Additionally, I confirm that my child is between the ages of 5 and 7 and weighs no more than 70 pounds on May 1st and 2nd, 2026. I understand that my child will be weighed on the check-in day of the rodeo. My child will be required to wear protective gear provided by the rodeo, and must have closed-toe shoes. I agree to pay the $15 registration fee and purchase a rodeo ticket for both myself and the participant.
